Creativity & Genre

               The importance of creativity when embarking  on  a new endeav or is grand.  The creative process allows us to be innovative and better at problem solving.  Ron  Beghetto  defines “creative self-efficacy" as our confidence to perform creatively on a particular task.  Beghetto  believes in strengthening our creative self-efficacy in order to become better problem solvers.  This skill can be very helpful when starting a project  such as the Media Studies portfolio project. Decision Day

             My initial reaction to  InDesign  and Premier Pro was confusion.  When testing Premier Pro,   my computer screen was flooded with various unknown buttons and features. As I went through the tutorial given to  me, I started to realize that many of these buttons I do not actually need to use.  After experiencing this and reading “ Our Place in the Universe: The Importance of Story and Storytelling in the Classroom”, I came to the conclusion that  Premier  Pro is simply a tool that I must earn to use to tell a story.  In the article, the author speaks about  how “stories have power” and how humans have used stories  “ to explain ou r world”.  This was inspiring to me. I feel that I can create my own story through film and that is  the reasoning for choosing film for my portfolio project.
